Watercolour on Arches, 2,42x1,07cm
This is a large scale watercolour painting of a seaside village near my home. Psathopirgos is only a few kilometres from Patras in the Northern Peloponnese. It is a very popular destination for locals during the Summer. Bars and taverns line its main street. In the Winter it is much quieter and a safe bay for fishing boats. I have visited this place so many times and it was inevitable that I should paint a place that is so familiar to me.
I use winsorandnewton professional watercolour paints and a cold pressed roll of Arches watercolour paper. I love to use real materials when I paint. In my opinion, real materials, your imagination and a great deal of serendipity in the process will always outdo digital media and AI.
