Watercolour on Fabriano artistico, 30,5x45,5cm.
This is a watercolour study of a 15th century icon created by the incredible painter Angelos Akotantos, a master of the Cretan school in Byzantine art.
As a painter you are involved in the practical aspects of what works and what doesn't when creating any image. There are so many details that make an image like this hold together. It's been a fascinating exercise in observation. Whatever you learn from a master painter makes anything else that you do stronger.
