Ship on shore / Πλοίo στη στεριά

Just as I arrived in the centre of town this afternoon one of the ferries entered the port and docked on the central pier. I've always been impressed and mildly amused by the way the ferries sit in with the rest of the urban landscape when they're docked in this central location. You look down towards the water and all you see is part of a ship 4 or 5 storeys high blending in with roads, buildings, signs, traffic and the general mayhem of daily living. A temporary backdrop to the life of the town, as if it's the most natural thing in the world to have a ship on shore. And then off they go again leaving an open horizon.
